The M/V Dolphin Queen offers 10 dives on a 3 days/ 3 nights liveaboard trip to the Similan Islands & Richelieu Rock, 18 dives on a 5 days/ 5 nights liveaboard diving trip to the Similan Islands, Surin Islands & Richelieu Rock.
The Similan national marine park is an archipelago consisting of 11 islands situated in the Andaman Sea off Phang-Nga province, Southern Thailand, the Similan Islands are considered among the world’s best dive destinations that offer prospective divers a wide range of options in the season from mid Oct till mid May.
The Similan Islands boasts of exceptional flora and fauna due to the Islands being uninhabited and closed for 5 months during the monsoon season (mid May till mid Oct.). This closure gives time for the coral reefs and marine life to rejuvenate.
During the diving safari we also visit and dive at Koh Bon & Koh Tachai. These are the islands where you might see giant oceanic manta rays and whale sharks.
Koh Bon is an island made of limestone. This island is a haven for divers thanks to the underwater pinnacle and famous for the visiting giant oceanic Manta Rays.
Koh Tachai has a plateau surrounded by giant granite boulders which attracts large schools of barracudas and giant trevallies. It is one of the best sites for scuba diving in Thailand. Sightings of whale sharks, leopard sharks, white tip sharks and giant oceanic mantas rays are regular.
The recommended depth for PADI open water divers in Similan diving sites is 18m while advanced open water divers can go as deep as 30m. PADI open water divers are encouraged to take the Advanced Open Water Course or the Adventure Deep Dive during the liveaboard safari, these courses allow you to dive up to 30 meters.
The Surin Islands are an archipelago of five different islands, including Koh Surin Tai, Koh Surin Nuea, Koh Khai, Koh Ri and Koh Klang. For purposes of conserving the environment, Surin Islands became a National Marine Park. Richelieu Rock is part of the Surin National Marine Park.
