Discover Scuba

Discover Scuba is for someone who has never experienced breathing under water, and would like to try a dive before doing the PADI open water course, or for people who just want to do 2 dives with an instructor.

Usually you start with some theory and getting to know about the equipment you will use, then you will go to the swimming pool and learn some basic skills and safety procedures, like clearing your mask of water.

Now you are ready to Discover SCUBA, 2 dives to a maximum of 12m with your PADI i nstructor on one of the most beautiful coral reefs in Thailand. This could be one of the best experiences you have ever made.

This course normally takes 4 days. We start with 2 days of theory (book & DVD) and swimming pool skills in the pool. This teaches you the standard rules and principles of diving. The course is made in our new dive center with A/C class room for your comfort. Our new location was chosen because of the quite surroundings and the short distance to the local beach (only 200m). In the pool you learn some of the basic skills training with your instructor, to get you ready for your open water dives. This means you have more time for enjoyment, relaxation and diving in the similan islands. You will go to the Similan Islands for a day trip. You can also choose to stay over night on the islands. After 2 days of diving (4 dives) you will be a certified a PADI OPEN WATER DIVER.

The ultimate way to do a PADI Open Water course with Similan Diving Safaris, is on our Liveaboard M/V Dolphin Queen Your instructor stays with you for the whole trip this helps to add to your confidence and have good understanding with your instructor, together in 4 days you will do 13 dives,11 day dives and 2 night dives.

Our new location was chosen because of the quite surroundings and the short distance to the local beach 200m, we are on nangtong road, In the pool you will do some of the basic skill training with your instructor to get you ready for your open water dives, this means you have more time for enjoyment, relaxation and diving in the similan islands. this takes 2 days theory and swimming pool training in Khaolak before departure for the similan islands, then 4 days + 4 nights on our liveaboard cruising all the amazing Similan Islands and then north to koh Bon Island famous for manta rays, Tachai Island, one of Thailand’s best dive sites, also Surin Islands, then on to the famous Richelieu Rock, with a chance to see a Whaleshark. After this trip with 13 dives (with your instructor) as an Open Water Diver you should feel very confident, and ready to move on to your new diving adventures anywhere in the world, with the feeling of safety and confidence. You can continue after your open water course to do your Advanced course, this course really puts you in control. Included in your PADI Open water course for you, A PADI open water manual, a log book, RDP dive planner. A 3 months temporary dive card and a life time PADI open water certification card will be sent to your address of choice by PADI.

Advanced Open Water

This is the course to further your knowledge and practical experience as a PADI Open Water Diver you will start to feel in control of yourself and also extend your allowed depth as an OWD.

The Advanced Open Water courses are made on our Liveaboard (M/V Dolphin Queen) .

For Advanced Courses on the liveaboard we charge 7,500,Baht.
Included: Advanced Open Water manual to keep, a dive computer for the 4 day dive safari. A PADI AOW diver certification card, and a log book if needed.

There are 11 subjects to choose from for the PADI Advanced Openwater Diver course:

You must do 5 dives (5 subjects). 2 of them are compulsory: Deep Diving and Underwater navigation. You can choose the other 3. We recommend for beginners Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Multilevel & Computer Diving. Build yourself confidence, feel safe, dive Safe. Put yourself in control with knowledge practical experience.

Each of these dives also credits towards the Specialty for that dive. Ask any of our instructor team for more information.

Why not combine the Advanced Course with the Nitrox specialty? With Nitrox you get to stay down at depth for longer! Ideal for those wishing to get into Photography, and you get to do 2 of the Adventure dives on Nitrox, staying longer at 30m. Again, ask one of our instructor team for more information.

Emergency First Response Course (EFR) 4,000 Baht The PADI RESCUE Diver Course 9,000 Baht

The EFR Course teaches you CPR and other medical response procedures. This takes 1 day in our class room. A pre-requisite for the PADI Rescue Course, where we teach you both Primary care and Secondary care techniques.  We focus on practical  ability so that you retain your skills if needed either in-water, or on land.

For those of you who want to take things even further, see if you can handle the PADI Rescue Diver course, a pre-requisite for the PADI Divemaster course.  In order to do this, you need to be a PADI Advanced diver (or equivalent) and we teach you to be more aware in the water, how to recognise problems and how best to deal with these problems…. You need to be fit, and keep your eyes and ears open, you NEVER know what will happen!

This is the course that is the most fun for divers! And the most challenging!

You need to be trained in CPR and First Aid either with Emergency First Response (EFR) or other organisation.

If you need to do the EFR course you will be taught to the highest standards, adding to your confidence and ability to respond.

Length of the Divemaster package

You can complete the course within 3 weeks- we advise you to take longer if you can in order to ensure you fully master the Divemaster skill set.

Number of dives

Over the course of the two liveaboards, you will do a total of 28 dives, if you require future dives to reach 60 dives
(minimum required before qualifying as a divemaster), you can do further liveaboards for 10,000 baht- that’s 50 per cent off!!

PADI Divemaster Books and Materials Are NOT Included

The cost of the PADI Divemaster course does not include your PADI Divemaster manuals- we expect our Divemaster Trainees to buy their Divemaster manuals before their course begins and read them in advance of arriving at the dive center. If you are planning to stay with us for longer than 4 weeks to complete your Divemaster course, this advance study will not be necessary.

Use of Dive Computer included

For the duration of the course, we will lend you a dive computer to use so that you fully understand how to plan and monitor your dives with a dive computer.

Accommodation

We can help you organize cheap accommodation in Khaolak, the town where our dive center is based. Remember you will be spending 8 nights on the liveaboard boats!!

Khaolak is about a one hour drive up the coat from Phuket. Khaolak is a lot more chilled out than Phuket – its quieter and cheaper. There is a great beach, and several bars and restaurants, There is also the amazing khao sok national park nearby.

Airport pickup

We will come and meet you at Phuket Airport and drive you to Khaolak, A taxi costs 1,200 baht from the airport, or 1,500 baht from any hotel in Phuket.
